Preschool swimming lessons
Preschool swimming lessons help children aged three to five build water confidence and learn basic safety skills. Your child will learn how to enter and exit shallow water safely, get comfortable with floats and back glides, and practice wearing a lifejacket. These lessons focus on fun, play, and building a strong foundation for future swimming.
Benefits of preschool lessons

- Practice holding their breath and blowing bubbles
- Learn how to float and rest in the water
- Reduce the risk of drowning
- Support heart and lung development
- Reduce fear of water and increase motor skills
- Build confidence and encourage social engagement

Class size and duration
Each preschool class has up to five swimmers. Courses run for six weeks. Class length varies based on scheduling and the typical age of the group.
What to bring and policies
Children must wear swimwear and bring a towel. Swim goggles are optional. All other equipment and lifejackets are provided. A lifeguard is always on duty on the pool deck.
Support staff
If your child needs a support staff member or aide, they are welcome to join the class. Please note that support staff must also participate in the water.
Inclusive swimwear policy
We want every family to feel safe and welcome. Along with conventional swimwear, participants may wear:
- Modest swimwear or pants and shirts
- Tee-shirts and shorts worn over a swimsuit
- Traditional ethnic clothing (like saris or hijabs) worn over a swimsuit or undergarments
For safety and hygiene, all participants must wear clothing that is different from street clothes and take a complete shower before entering the pool. Patrons wearing traditional garments are asked to stay in the shallow end and not use the dive tank.
Meet your instructors
Our instructors hold a Bronze Cross certification or higher. They are qualified to teach our swimming programs and evaluate swimmer progress. They are trained to support children at every skill level.
Frequently asked questions
How do I choose the right level?
Lesson levels are based on your swimmer's current abilities. You do not need proof of previous completion. Book a free swim assessment to get a recommendation.
What if my swimmer is in the wrong level?
We place swimmers to ensure everyone's safety. If a swimmer needs to move to a different class, we will transfer them when space allows.
What are combined-level classes?
Combined classes teach skills from two levels and are great for swimmers who are unsure which level fits best. We offer a limited number of combined classes based on enrollment.
How much do lessons cost?
Lessons cost $55.00 for a six-week course. Private lessons are $30.00 for a thirty-minute session. There are no extra fees for equipment or lifejackets.
Can my swimmer take more than one course?
We recommend one course per season so we can properly assess their progress. If you register for more, they may be moved to a combined class.
Should my swimmer practice outside of lessons?
Yes. Lessons teach core skills, but practicing at home or during public swim times helps them progress faster.
