What you will learn
Figure skating lessons are for experienced skaters who want to build on their forward skating skills. You will practice edges, jumps, spins, and dance moves in a fun, non-competitive setting. Lessons are offered at Westbrook Community Arena and Eastfield Twin Arenas.
Figure skating lessons
Joining a figure skating program helps you build confidence and coordination. You will improve your balance, flexibility, and muscle strength while making friends with others who love the ice. Our coaches guide you through drills and activities so you can express yourself through movement on the ice. You will work at your own pace in a supportive environment.
Who can join
These lessons are not for beginners. You must have completed Skating lessons 4 or an equivalent level. If you are just starting out, check out our beginner skating lessons.
Kids (ages 6 to 15)
Young skaters will practice basic edges, simple jumps, and introductory spins.
Teens and adults (ages 16 and up)
Older participants will work on the same fundamentals, with a focus on flow and dance steps.
How to register
Winter program registration opens the first Monday of December. You can sign up online, call 519-555-0100, or visit any recreation facility. Spots fill quickly, so register early. Visit Registration dates and tips for help with online sign-up and virtual waiting room details.
Fees and rules
The fee is $45.00 for a 6-week course. Payment is due at registration. A refund is available if you cancel more than 7 days before the first lesson. All participants must wear a CSA-approved helmet. Lace-up figure skates are required; buckle skates are not recommended. Instructors require current First Aid and CPR level C certification, and all coaches hold NCCP Figure Skating and CanSkate qualifications.
What to bring
Arrive at least 15 minutes before your lesson to change and warm up. You must bring gloves or mittens, and warm layered clothing with snow pants. We do not provide skate sharpening on site. On the first day, you will take a quick skills assessment so your coach can place you at the right level. Multiple groups skate at once, and we provide clear viewing areas for parents.
