  • Fitness and wellness instructors — yoga, pilates, aquafit, and general fitness class leaders.
  • Arena and field staff — ice surface technicians, referees, and program assistants at Westbrook Community Arena and Eastfield Twin Arenas.
  • Program coordinators — youth, senior, and community program leaders.

Required qualifications

Every role has specific qualifications. Most positions require you to be at least 15 years old, hold a valid first aid and CPR certificate, and pass a criminal record check. You will need to provide original copies of all certifications before your first shift.

Common certifications

  • Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C
  • Recognized group fitness or aquatics certification
  • National lifeguard or swim instructor certification
  • Referee or coaching certification (for sports roles)

If you do not have your certifications yet, you can take courses through local providers. Many Wrenford facilities host training sessions before each season.

Wrenford Recreation hires staff in three main hiring waves, matching our program registration calendar:

  • Winter hiring: December to January for January to March programs.
  • Spring hiring: March to April for April to June programs.
  • Summer hiring: May to June for July and August camps and drop-in sessions.

We also recruit year-round for positions that remain open, such as arena staff and fitness instructors.
