Why join our aquatic team
Working at a Wrenford pool is a great way to spend your summer or fill your schedule during the school year. You will work at our indoor and outdoor aquatic centres, including Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre, Northgate Aquatic Centre, and Kingfisher Outdoor Pool. You will help keep swimmers safe, teach children and adults to swim, and connect with your community. It is a hands-on job that builds your resume and gives you responsibility. You can choose shifts that fit around your classes or work, and you will work alongside a supportive team of coaches and attendants.
What you will do
As a swim instructor, you will plan and teach group lessons for all ages. You will track student progress, communicate with parents, and maintain clean, safe pool areas. As a lifeguard, you will watch over swimmers, enforce pool rules, perform water rescues, and document daily incidents. Both roles require clear communication, quick decision-making, and a positive attitude. You will receive paid training before the season begins.
Who can apply
You must be at least 15 years old to apply. You should be physically fit, have normal hearing, and good vision. You must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Daytime and evening availability is required. If you live outside Wrenford, you will need to relocate to the Southwestern Ontario area before your start date. We welcome applicants who enjoy teaching and working with people of all ages.
Required certifications
All certifications must be issued by a recognized Canadian organization and remain current throughout the season. You must provide proof of the following before your first shift:
- Lifesaving Society Bronze Medallion (age 13+)
- Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross (must have a current Bronze Medallion)
- Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard – Pool (NL) for lifeguard roles (age 15+)
- Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instructor certification for teaching roles (age 15+)
- Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Level C (or Aquatic Emergency Care with CPR Level C) from an approved provider
Note: First Aid and CPR must be recertified every two years. Copies of all updated awards must be uploaded with your application.
