About the Traffic and Parking By-law
The Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 helps keep our streets safe and clear for everyone. It covers where you can park, how long you can stay, and rules for snow routes and abandoned vehicles. Violations can result in parking tickets or towing.
Where you cannot park
- On sidewalks, boulevards, or in a way that blocks pedestrians.
- Within five metres of a stop sign, yield sign, or fire hydrant.
- Within 1.5 metres of a driveway or private property access.
- On a designated snow route when a parking ban is in effect (December 1 to March 31, 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.).
- In a restricted residential area without a valid permit displayed.
- Where signs prohibit stopping or parking.
- In an alley, unless a sign allows it.
Road rules and vehicle positioning
Always park parallel to the curb unless signs indicate otherwise. Your right-side wheels must be no more than 0.5 metres from the curb. On one-way streets, park in the direction of traffic. Do not double park or leave your vehicle on a slope without chocking the wheels.
RVs and trailers
Recreational vehicles and trailers cannot be parked on a public roadway for more than 72 consecutive hours. They must be attached to a vehicle or stored on private property. Parking an RV on a front driveway is allowed from May 1 to October 15, provided sidewalks are not blocked.
Abandoned vehicles
A vehicle parked on any residential street for more than 72 hours is considered abandoned. By-law Enforcement officers and the Wrenford Police Service Headquarters may tow it at the owner's expense.
Fees and penalties
If you receive a parking ticket, you can pay early or wait for the specified penalty amount. Early payment is available for 10 days after the offence date.
