Drop-in programmes and gentle fitness

Wrenford offers free drop-in fitness and wellness classes designed for older adults. You can join gentle fitness and senior classes at the Ambrel Lake Recreation Centre and other local hubs. These sessions focus on balance, mobility, and light strength training. Aqua fitness classes are also available at the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre and Northgate Aquatic Centre during the summer months. All sessions welcome participants of every ability level.

Adapted and supported fitness

If you need extra support to join a class, ask about our adapted and supported fitness programmes. Our Accessibility Coordinator can help you create an Individualized Inclusion Support Plan. This plan ensures you have the right equipment or a Leisure Companion to help you participate comfortably. You must give us three weeks' notice so we can arrange your support.

Social and cultural activities

Community centres are great places to meet neighbours and try new hobbies. We host regular social hours where you can play cards, share a cup of coffee, or chat over lunch. Our Senior Socials Drop-in Series runs monthly at the older adults' lounge. The Arts & Health Project also runs weekly creative workshops with a professional artist. You can also join our book club, trivia nights, and seasonal craft events. Check the event calendar for monthly themes.

Booking and space rental

If you represent a seniors' group or want to host a private gathering, you can book a meeting room or a community hall. Spaces are available at the Ambrel Lake Recreation Centre, Westbrook Community Arena, and Eastfield Twin Arenas. Visit our facility rental rates page to view hourly fees and insurance requirements. You can submit your booking request online or drop by the Downtown Transit Terminal customer service counter.

Cost assistance and transit

Many programmes are free or low-cost. If you are on a fixed income, you may qualify for the Leisure Access Programme. This card gives you reduced or free entry to recreation programmes and facility rentals. Apply at any recreation facility with proof of income. For a full list of eligible programmes, see the Recreation fee assistance page.

Need a ride to the centre? Wrenford Access provides door-to-door transportation for seniors and people with mobility needs. You must register in advance and provide a doctor's referral. Call 311 or 519-555-0114 to learn about eligibility and book a trip.
