What you can get help with
If money is tight, the City of Wrenford can help you pay for recreation programs, facility rentals, and some other services. Our Leisure Access Programme covers drop-in activities at city facilities, including swimming lessons, gymnasium rentals, and park shelter bookings. It also helps with registration for classes and day camps.
Who qualifies
You may qualify if you are a Wrenford resident and one of the following applies:
- You receive Ontario Works or Income Support.
- You are on AISH (Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped).
- You receive Guaranteed Income Support or Canada Pension Plan disability benefits.
- You have refugee or protected person status.
- Your household income is below the low-income cutoff, based on your most recent Canada Revenue Agency Notice of Assessment.
Students, seniors, and people with disabilities may also qualify for specific waivers or reduced rates. If you are unsure, submit an application and our team will review your situation.
How to apply
You can apply online or in person. Processing usually takes 10 to 14 business days. We will email you a decision and your Leisure Access Card if you are approved.
Online application
- Fill out the online application form in full.
- Upload a copy of your government-issued photo ID.
- Upload proof of income (your most recent CRA Notice of Assessment or a direct deposit statement) or proof of your qualifying program.
In-person application
- Visit the Service Wrenford counter at Wrenford City Hall (100 Mercer Street).
- Bring your ID, proof of address, and your income documents.
- If you have a qualifying program letter, you may be able to get same-day enrollment.
What to expect
Once approved, you will receive a digital Leisure Access Card linked to your recreation account. You will not need to show it every time, but you must use it when booking. The card is valid for the current calendar year only. You must renew it each season with updated income proof. Unused funding does not carry over to next year.
Rules and limits
To keep the programme fair for everyone, please note:
- The waiver covers a set dollar amount or percentage off eligible fees. It cannot be used for commercial rentals, merchandise, or third-party programs.
- One card per household. You cannot share your card with friends or family members who live at a different address.
- If your income changes or your qualifying program ends, you must tell us within 30 days. We may review your eligibility.
- Applications must be submitted at least 14 days before a program start date or facility rental date to avoid full-price charges.
- Misuse of the waiver, such as booking and not showing up without cancelling, may result in suspension of your benefits.
