What counts as a public art issue
The City of Wrenford cares for more than 200 artworks in parks, trails, and public buildings. You can help us keep them safe by reporting problems like:
- Cracks, chips, or loose parts
- Graffiti or unauthorized paint
- Sharp edges or exposed wiring
- Missing pieces or hardware
- Art that has shifted or fallen over
How to report an issue
Please fill out the Public Art Issue Reporting Form to tell us exactly what you see. You will need to provide:
- The location (park name, street corner, or building)
- A short description of the problem
- A photo, if you can take one safely
If the artwork is posing an immediate safety risk, call our 24-hour service line at 519-555-0100 and select the public safety option.
What happens next
Our Public Art Coordinator reviews every report within two business days. We will then decide how to handle it:
- Safety hazards: Our maintenance crew or a qualified conservator is sent within 48 hours to secure or repair the piece.
- Graffiti or vandalism: Parks and By-law Enforcement staff will clean the artwork and log the incident for prevention planning.
- General wear and tear: We add the repair to our seasonal maintenance schedule and fix it during the next routine visit.
We will not remove an artwork without a review by the Public Art Committee. If your report leads to a necessary removal, we will post a notice at the site and on the city website.
Rules for touching or cleaning art
Public art is designed to be seen and shared, but it is not always built for heavy handling. To protect the work:
- Do not climb on, lean against, or hang items from sculptures.
- Leave cleaning to City crews. Household cleaners or pressure washers can damage finishes and void warranties.
- If you notice a problem, report it instead of trying to fix it yourself.
