Why you need an inspection

Wrenford Fire Rescue inspects commercial properties to make sure everyone in your building can get out safely in an emergency. Inspections also check that fire alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers and exits are working properly. You need an inspection if your business has a Fire Safety Plan or if you are opening a new commercial space.

Who should book an inspection

Business owners, property managers and facility supervisors in Wrenford should book a fire safety inspection before opening or when you make changes that affect fire safety. This includes changes to exits, occupancy numbers or fire protection systems.

How to book

Call Fire Station 1 (Headquarters) at 519-555-0115 to schedule your inspection. You can also email [email protected] with your business address and a contact name. Give us at least five business days notice so we can assign an inspector.

Preparing for your inspection

Have your Fire Safety Plan ready for the inspector. If you do not have one, visit our Fire safety plans page to learn how to create one. Make sure all exits are clear and accessible. The inspector will need access to the fire alarm panel, sprinkler control valves and all public areas.

Inspection fees

There is no fee for a routine fire safety inspection. If the inspector finds issues and you need a re-inspection to confirm the work is done, a re-inspection fee of $150.00 applies. This fee covers the extra time needed to return to your site.

What happens during the inspection

The inspector will walk through your business and check key safety features. They will test fire alarms, check extinguisher tags, verify exit signs are lit and ensure doors open easily. They may also review your Fire Safety Plan to see if it matches the current layout. If everything passes, you will get a compliance certificate. If there are problems, you will receive a deficiency notice with a deadline to fix them.

After the inspection

Keep your compliance certificate in a safe place. You may need it for insurance or tenant agreements. If you get a deficiency notice, fix the issues by the date given and call the inspector to book your re-inspection. For help with safety plans or equipment, contact Fire Station 1 at 519-555-0115 or visit Fire Station 1 (Headquarters) in person.
