How refund requests work
Building permits in Wrenford are valid for twelve months from the date of issue. If your construction plans change or you decide not to build, you can apply for a refund. All requests are reviewed by the Planning and Development department.
Who qualifies for a refund
- Within 30 days of issuance: You are eligible for a partial refund if you cancel the permit within 30 days of receiving it and no inspections have been booked.
- Unused permits: If you paid for a permit but never used it and it has expired, you may apply for a refund through the Planning and Development office.
- After 30 days or after inspections: No refunds are available once inspections have been booked, work has started, or the 30-day window has passed.
Refund amount and processing
Approved refunds are calculated by taking the original permit fee and deducting a $75.00 administration fee. The City issues formal refund notices within five business days of receiving a complete request.
How to apply
- Download the Building Permit Refund Request Form.
- Attach proof of your original permit payment.
- Submit the form and documents to the Planning and Development office at Room 310, Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street, or email them to [email protected].
- Staff will review your application and mail or email your refund notice within five business days.
After you cancel
Cancelling a permit automatically voids any scheduled inspections. If you plan to build later, you must submit a new application and pay the current fee. Use the Building permit fee calculator to check today's rates.
