Wrenford Ice Days concludes with record attendance at Eastfield

The City of Wrenford's annual Wrenford Ice Days festival wrapped up this weekend at the Eastfield Twin Arenas, drawing a record crowd of fans and visitors to the downtown and surrounding neighbourhoods.

Over 1,200 spectators enjoyed the skating and curling events from Friday evening through Sunday. The festival featured live music, local food trucks, and family activities in the parking lot and nearby Eastfield Twin Arenas concourses. Visitors flocked to the area for the weekend, bringing a noticeable boost to local shops and restaurants.

Keeping the area accessible and safe required careful planning from Roads & Winter Maintenance crews. Workers plowed the access roads and treated the parking lots throughout the night so visitors could arrive and leave safely. Crews also monitored the nearby snow route parking ban to make sure emergency vehicles and maintenance trucks could still reach the site.

"We're thrilled to see so many residents and visitors out on the ice and in the stands," says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "It takes a huge team effort from our recreation staff, volunteers, and Roads & Winter Maintenance crews to make the event a success."

If your regular garbage or recycling pickup was delayed because of the weekend traffic and snow clearing, check the updated Garbage and recycling collection schedule for your neighbourhood. The City's automated system will adjust your collection day as needed.
