Spring street sweeping begins March 15, 2026 across Wrenford

City of Wrenford crews begin their annual spring street sweep on Monday, March 15. The program runs through May and helps clear sand, salt and leaves from our roads so they do not block storm drains or clog our sewer system. Keeping our streets clean also improves air quality and gives our neighbourhoods a fresh start after winter.

Sweeping happens in two phases. The first phase covers major arterial roads, including Benchlands Drive, Northgate Boulevard and Corvid Way. Crews will work through the evening to keep traffic moving during the day. The second phase starts in mid-April and focuses on residential streets and boulevards across all six wards.

When a street is scheduled for sweeping, you must move your vehicle. Crews will post temporary no-parking signs 24 hours in advance. Vehicles left in a no-parking zone on a sweeping day may receive a ticket under the Traffic and Parking By-law and could be towed. Please check street parking rules to see how the sweeping schedule fits with the overnight parking ban, which ends on March 31.

"Spring sweeping is a quick way to protect our stormwater system and make our neighbourhoods look fresh for the season," said Roads Superintendent James Whitford. "We ask drivers to give our crews plenty of room and to follow the posted signs so we can finish each route safely."

Street sweepers can kick up dust and salt residue. Close your car windows while driving near the equipment and walk on the sidewalk instead of crossing the street when you see a sweeper coming. If you notice a pothole or a drainage issue after the crews pass, you can report it via our online request form or by calling 519-555-0100.
