Northgate drop-off depot opens for spring recycling

The Northgate Drop-off Depot is officially open for the spring season starting today, April 8. Located at 1010 Northgate Boulevard, the facility welcomes residents who need a place to drop off recyclables, yard waste, and other household items that do not fit in the regular curbside bins.

The depot will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. throughout the season. Residents can bring in mixed paper, cardboard, metal, glass, and plastics accepted under the provincial Blue Box program. The site also accepts electronics, tires, and household hazardous waste for proper disposal. Keep in mind that household hazardous waste is only accepted at the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility on Saturdays from May through October.

Spring is a busy time for the depot, especially with the municipal election on October 26 approaching. To keep lines moving, please have your items ready and sorted before you arrive. If you are dropping off large items or construction debris, check the Waste management bylaws for size and weight limits. You can also use the depot to dispose of old election signs and campaign materials. Check the How to dispose of election signs page for details on the Election Sign Recovery Programme and proper recycling steps.

"We want to make sure our community has easy access to recycling and waste diversion services all season long," said Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. "Whether you are clearing out your garage or cleaning up after a spring event, the Northgate depot is here to help."
