When signs must come down
All election signs must be removed by October 29, 2026. Signs left on public property past this date will be removed by the City at the owner's expense. You may also receive a fine under Election Signs By-law 2026-050.
Where to take your signs
You can dispose of election signs at any of our drop-off depots or through your regular waste collection. Please follow these options to keep our streets and parks clean.
Drop-off depots
Take signs directly to one of the following locations. We accept cardboard, plastic, and wooden signs.
- East Wrenford Waste Management Facility — 3500 Concession 4 Road, Wrenford, ON N4Q 7A1. Open Monday to Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call 519-555-0128 for questions.
- Northgate Drop-off Depot — 1010 Northgate Boulevard, Wrenford, ON N4Q 4B8. Open Wednesday and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Curbside collection
Small signs made of cardboard or plastic can usually go in your Blue Box recycling. Wooden signs and large composite signs should go in your garbage bin or be taken to a depot. Do not leave signs on the curb unattended before collection day.
Recycling and reuse
Consider donating signs in good condition to local community groups or political candidates. You can also break down cardboard signs to reduce waste. Please remove all staples, tape, and plastic sleeves before recycling.
Rules and fines
Leaving election signs on public property after the deadline is a violation of the Election Signs By-law 2026-050. By-law officers will remove non-compliant signs, and the owner is responsible for all removal and disposal costs. Fines for violations are:
- First offence: $100.00
- Second offence (within the same election cycle): $250.00
Report a problem
If you see signs left past the deadline or placed improperly, you can report them to By-law Enforcement. Please provide the address and a photo if possible.
