Main Branch library extends hours for spring reading challenge kickoff

The Wrenford Public Library — Main Branch will stay open until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, to kick off the Spring Reading Challenge. The special evening event is at 150 Mercer Street in downtown Wrenford. Library staff and volunteers are ready to welcome readers of all ages to sign up, pick up a reading log, and meet the author of the season's featured book.

This year's challenge runs from April 9 to June 30. Participants can read on their own or join group reading sessions held in the Main Branch community room and the Northgate and Ambrel Lake branches. Each book read earns a chance to win prizes, including gift certificates to local shops and a set of library tote bags. You do not need a library card to join the challenge, but having one makes it easier to track your reads online and borrow books ahead of time.

"We want to make reading fun and accessible for everyone in Wrenford," said Tara Sandhu, Library CEO. "Extending our hours for the opening night gives families and night-shift workers a chance to get involved right away."

Residents can pick up a paper reading log at the service desk or download one from the library website. To sign up, simply stop by the Main Branch during the special evening hours or register through the library's online portal. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult at the kickoff event, though youth aged 13 and older can attend on their own. The library will also host a series of storytimes and reading circles throughout the spring. These free sessions are open to the public and do not require registration.
