The City of Wrenford will close Larch Heights Golf Course on October 25, 2026, to begin winter maintenance and prepare for the 2027 season. The 18-hole municipal course at 2100 Wrenford Line will remain open for casual walking and trail use while the greens and fairways are treated.
Winter maintenance includes aeration, top dressing, and applying a seasonal fertilizer to protect the turf during Ontario's cold months. Crews will also clear irrigation lines and cover the clubhouse equipment shed. Residents can still enjoy the property for walking and bird watching on the maintained paths.
"We have had a wonderful season at Larch Heights, and we appreciate everyone who visited our greens," said Fiona Gallagher, general manager of community services. "Closing the course now gives our grounds crew the time they need to care for the turf so it is ready and in great shape when we open the gates next spring."
While the golf season ends, the course grounds remain a popular spot for local nature walks. The nearby Tamsin River Trail System connects directly to the property, offering a scenic route through the Benchlands area. Residents interested in photography or sketching the autumn foliage can park in the lot off Wrenford Line.
Golfers should return any borrowed clubs or carts by the closing date. The pro shop will process refund requests for remaining green fee packages within five business days. The clubhouse is also available for cultural space rentals and community meetings year-round. Contact the Arts & Heritage team for more information on booking the venue, or visit the Arts & Heritage section for upcoming events.
