Kingfisher Pool reopens with enhanced accessible entry system

May 15, 2026 — The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce that the Kingfisher Outdoor Pool will reopen this summer with a newly upgraded accessible entry system, making it easier for residents of all abilities to enjoy the water. Located at 15 Kingfisher Court, the seasonal outdoor pool and splash pad will welcome swimmers from late June through Labour Day.

The enhanced entry system features a new zero-depth ramp and a sturdy, motorized chair lift at the deep end, replacing the previous steep ladder and steps. These improvements align with the City's commitment to inclusive recreation and meet the standards outlined in the accessibility features at recreation facilities programme. Lifeguards and staff have completed additional training to assist visitors using the new equipment.

"We want every resident to feel welcome in the water," said Katrina Doucet, the City's Accessibility Coordinator. "This upgrade removes physical barriers at Kingfisher Pool and ensures that families and individuals can spend their summer days together without hassle."

Visitors are encouraged to arrive early during opening weekend to become familiar with the new entry points and to speak with staff about available support. Sensory backpacks are also available at the front desk for those who find crowded environments overwhelming. The pool will operate standard summer hours, and visitors with mobility needs can reserve a Leisure Access Card at the Downtown Transit Terminal or the Service Wrenford counter at City Hall.
