Green bin collection moves to weekly from May 4 2026

Starting Monday, May 4, 2026, the City of Wrenford will collect green bins every week for all residents. This change moves your organics collection from a biweekly schedule to a weekly one, aligning your green bin day with your regular garbage day.

Spring brings more yard trimmings, food scraps, and garden waste. Collecting green bins weekly will keep your neighbourhood cleaner, reduce odours and pests, and help the city meet its waste diversion targets. The city's fleet has been upgraded to handle the extra route, and the weekly schedule will reduce strain on sanitation trucks and staff.

Here is what you need to do:

  • Check your collection schedule to confirm your new weekly green bin day.
  • Place your green bin at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day.
  • Make sure the bin is not too heavy and keep the lid closed.
  • Recycle cardboard and paper separately or place them in your blue bin.

"We know spring is a busy time for yard work and gardening. Moving to weekly green bin collection makes it easier for residents to dispose of organic waste quickly and keeps our streets tidy," said Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. "This change supports our goal of diverting more waste from the landfill and building a cleaner Wrenford."
