Green bin collection moves to weekly from May 22

Wrenford residents living in single-family homes and duplexes will see their green bins collected every week again starting Friday, May 22. This change marks the return to our full spring collection schedule after the slower winter months.

As the weather warms up, residents will have more grass clippings, leaves, and garden trimmings to dispose of. Collecting the green bin weekly helps keep neighbourhoods tidy and stops odours from building up in the summer heat.

"Our crews have been working hard through the winter, and we are ready to ramp up collection as soon as the green space starts growing," says Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. "Getting your yard waste picked up every week makes a big difference for everyone."

If you have a green bin, place it at the curb on your regular garbage collection day by 7:00 a.m. Make sure the lid closes easily and that you are not putting in plastic bags, food waste, or liquids. Paper yard-waste bags are also collected biweekly from April through the end of November.

Multi-unit buildings (apartments and townhouses) that use a shared green bin will continue with their existing collection days.

You can check your exact collection day and get service alerts through the Service Wrenford app or by calling 311. If you need a new bin or have questions about what goes inside, visit the Green bin and organics collection page or ask the Waste wizard and disposal guide.

For the full list of collection days across all neighbourhoods, see the Garbage & Recycling section or call 519-555-0100.
