Council approves 2027-2030 capital works program

On May 21, 2026, Wrenford City Council approved the 2027–2030 Capital Works Program, a four-year plan that outlines $190.0 million in investments to renew essential infrastructure, upgrade community facilities, and keep our roads in good condition.

The plan prioritizes replacing aging water and wastewater pipes, resurfacing residential streets, and renewing community facilities like the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre and Ambrel Lake Recreation Centre. You will see these improvements across the city, along with planning work for larger projects like a new indoor aquatic facility.

"This Capital Works Program is about doing the hard work we need to do now so our services stay reliable and our neighbourhoods keep improving. We are investing in our water systems, our roads, and the community centres and parks that bring us together," said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price.

The approved program includes borrowing of up to $45.0 million over the four-year period. Under the Municipal Act, 2001, the City must ask residents to approve borrowing for certain capital investments through a plebiscite. You will be able to cast a vote on these borrowing limits when the plebiscite is held later this year.

Staff are preparing the final 2027 budget for Council's review later this year. Once adopted, the program moves into implementation. Residents can view the full plan and track spending on the Capital Works Program page.
