Review the budget and share your priorities

You can review the current budget, explore the four-year financial outlook, and submit feedback on service priorities. During the engagement window, staff host pop-up information tables in neighbourhoods and open an online survey. You can also attend a council meeting to speak directly about what the city should fund.

How the budget cycle works

Wrenford builds its budget from January to September. In the spring, City departments review their service needs and submit funding requests to the City Manager. Administration then balances those requests against city revenue and drafts the initial budget. Over the summer, staff incorporate public feedback and present a proposed budget to Council. In September, Council holds public hearings and votes on the final budget. The approved plan takes effect in October.

What your taxes fund

As a single-tier city, Wrenford delivers all local services directly. Your property tax and utility bills cover public safety, roads and winter maintenance, water and wastewater, transit, parks, and community programs. The budget also includes fixed contributions to the Tamsin Valley Conservation Authority for floodplain management and a separate operating agreement for the Wrenford Public Library Board.

Rules and fees

The annual budget is balanced, meaning every dollar planned is matched by a source of revenue. We do not charge a fee to review budget documents or attend public hearings. If you need help reading budget tables or understanding how tax levies are calculated, you can join our monthly Budget Literacy Workshops at City Hall.
