On August 10, 2026, the City of Wrenford’s Planning and Development department released its building permit values report for the second quarter of 2026. The report tracks the number and estimated value of all approved construction permits across the city.
During April, May and June, the City issued 134 approved permits with a combined estimated value of $36.8 million. Residential projects made up the largest share, accounting for 89 permits valued at $21.4 million. Commercial construction brought in 28 permits worth $9.7 million, while public service and industrial projects added 17 permits valued at $5.7 million.
Notable projects approved during the quarter include a three-storey community hub near Benchlands Lookout Park valued at $4.2 million, interior upgrades to a retail building on Mercer Street worth $1.1 million, and a new laneway house in the Wildrye neighbourhood valued at $380,000. These projects highlight ongoing investment in both neighbourhood amenities and private housing.
"We are seeing strong interest in both new builds and renovations, which shows that Wrenford’s neighbourhoods continue to grow in a healthy, sustainable way," said Samuel Adeyemi, GM Infrastructure and Planning.
