City issues boil water advisory for Northgate neighbourhood

The City of Wrenford is issuing a precautionary Boil Water Advisory for the Northgate neighbourhood effective 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026. Residents in the affected area should not drink, cook with, or use tap water for brushing teeth or washing dishes until further notice.

Water operators detected a sudden drop in pressure in the main serving Northgate Boulevard and the surrounding streets. A low-pressure event can allow contaminants to enter the system. The City's water quality team is investigating the cause and conducting immediate repairs.

"We are working around the clock to restore full pressure and ensure the water meets all health standards," said Patrick Nguyen, Water Operations Manager. "Please boil your water as a precaution until we give you the all-clear."

The advisory will remain in place until laboratory tests confirm the water is safe. The City will notify residents as soon as the advisory is lifted. Notices will be hand-delivered to affected homes and posted on the Water & Wastewater page.

While the advisory is in effect, you must boil tap water for one full minute before using it for drinking, cooking, making ice, or preparing food. Once boiled, let the water cool to room temperature before using it. If you do not have access to a stove or kettle, use bottled water or treat tap water with unscented household bleach (16 drops per 4 litres, then wait 30 minutes). Do not use unboiled tap water for infants without boiling it first.

If you have questions about the advisory or need assistance, call Wrenford 311 during business hours or 519-555-0111 after hours.
