City announces 2026–2027 outdoor rink locations

The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce the locations for the 2026–2027 outdoor skating rinks. Parks and Recreation staff have identified six neighbourhood sites for the upcoming winter season, with ice preparation set to begin once overnight temperatures consistently stay below freezing.

Rinks will be available at Riverside Flats Park, Ambrel Lake Park, Benchlands Lookout Park, Centennial Gardens, Hollis Park, and Wildrye Park. Each site will feature a maintained ice surface, basic lighting for evening skaters, and public washrooms located at the nearest recreation centre. Helmets are strongly recommended for all skaters, and children under the age of eight must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

The rinks will open for public use in early December, pending weather conditions. Skating hours will run from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily, with the ice resurfaced every morning. There is no fee to skate at these outdoor locations, but visitors are asked to follow all park rules and safety guidelines. This includes keeping dogs on a short leash in adjacent park areas and cleaning up after pets.

“Outdoor skating has been a beloved winter tradition in Wrenford for generations, and we are excited to provide safe, accessible spaces for families and neighbours to enjoy together,” said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. The City’s winter maintenance crews will clear snow from rink access paths as needed, and any damage to rink fencing or lighting should be reported to By-law Enforcement through 311 or the City’s service portal.
