The City of Wrenford is activating the Emergency Operations Centre at City Hall as Environment and Climate Change Canada issues a winter storm warning for the region. The warning covers Tuesday, October 13 through Thursday, October 15, and calls for heavy rain, strong winds, and a mix of freezing rain and snow.
City staff are monitoring conditions closely. Roads and Winter Maintenance crews will be on standby to treat main roads as soon as the first snow or ice falls. The City will also be ready to respond to service calls through Wrenford 311 or the Wrenford 311 app. For emergencies, residents should always call 9-1-1.
"We want residents to stay safe and keep moving through the storm," said City Manager Robert Eng. "Our crews are trained and ready, but the best thing you can do is plan ahead and avoid unnecessary travel."
Check your emergency kit. Make sure it has enough food, water, and medicines for three days. Fill up your vehicle's gas tank. Keep your phone charged. If you need shelter or support, the City has opened our emergency shelter list. You can also sign up for emergency alerts so you get updates directly on your phone or email.
The City will continue to update residents through official channels. For full guidance on how to prepare and what to do during the storm, visit extreme weather and storm preparedness.
