Centennial Gardens community planting day registration opens

Registration opens on May 20, 2026, for a free community planting day at Centennial Gardens. The event will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. We are looking for 40 neighbours to help plant native flowers and pollinator-friendly plants in the formal gardens downtown.

You do not need gardening experience. City staff will show you how to prepare the soil, space the plants, and water them correctly. We will provide shovels, gloves, and free seed packets to take home. All you need to bring is a reusable water bottle and a willingness to work outside.

"We want to make it easy for neighbours to get involved and help Centennial Gardens bloom all season long," says Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. "It is a great chance to meet other residents and learn about plants that support our local bees and butterflies."

Spaces are limited, so we will accept registrations on a first-come, first-served basis. You can sign up online through the Neighbourhoods page, or visit the Service Wrenford counter at Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street. If you have questions, email [email protected].

The weather in May can be unpredictable. If rain is forecast for May 30, the event will move to the rain date on May 31, 2026, at the same time.

If you are looking for more ways to improve the places you live, visit the Neighbourhoods section. You can learn how to Start a community garden, apply for a community beautification grant, or register your local group.

We look forward to seeing you at the gardens!
