The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce the official opening of the Ambrel Lake Loop Expansion on September 30, 2026. The new paved pathway connects directly to the existing boardwalk and picnic shelter at 1350 Ambrel Lake Road, giving residents a fresh route for walking, rolling, and strolling around the lake. You can find the park's full list of amenities on the Ambrel Lake Park page.
The expansion adds a north shore loop to the park, featuring accessible surfaces, new lighting along the eastern edge, and small pull-outs for resting. The work was part of the city's Active Transportation Network Strategy to better link neighbourhoods, parks, and transit stops. Crews finished the grading, paving, and landscaping earlier this month.
"We built this loop with accessibility and quiet enjoyment in mind," says Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. "It fits right into the trail system and gives our Ambrel Lake residents a safer, smoother route for their daily walks."
The path is open now, but please remember to keep dogs on a six-metre leash on shared trails outside off-leash zones and follow quiet hours from 9:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. under the Noise By-law. If you notice any drainage issues or surface cracks, report them through the report a park maintenance issue form. The expanded route joins the wider trail system that runs through the city.
