Ambrel Lake Park pathway expansion project completed ahead of schedule

The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce that the new pathway expansion at Ambrel Lake Park is now open for you to enjoy. City crews finished the construction work on May 18, completing the project two weeks ahead of the scheduled May 2026 deadline.

The new route connects the north shore of Ambrel Lake directly to the main Tamsin River Trail System. The expansion features an accessible paved surface, new LED lighting for evening visibility, and restored native plantings along the shoreline to support local wildlife. The project was delivered as part of the city's Active Transportation Network Strategy, which aims to improve safe routes for walking and cycling across all six wards.

You can now enjoy a continuous, direct path that reduces detours around the lake by approximately 400 metres. The expanded trail also includes new interpretive signage highlighting the history of Ambrel Lake and the surrounding ravine ecosystem.

"We are thrilled to open this section of the trail ahead of schedule," says Parks Planner Maya Chen-Watson. "It brings our 64-kilometre trail network closer to full connectivity and gives our neighbours a beautiful new place to walk, cycle, and enjoy the outdoors."

The pathway is open daily for all visitors. You are asked to keep dogs on a six-metre leash while on shared paths and to stay on designated routes to protect the shoreline and native plantings. If you notice any maintenance issues, such as damaged signage or surface wear, you can report it online.
