Winter parking ban begins November 23 at Ambrel Lake Park

The City of Wrenford is starting the overnight on-street parking ban early for the streets surrounding Ambrel Lake Park. Beginning at 2:00 a.m. on November 23, residents must move their vehicles to allow snow clearing crews to access the park entrance and trailheads ahead of the city-wide start date of December 1.

This early start helps crews clear snow from the main loop road and the Tamsin River Trail System access points before the first heavy snowfall. Keeping the park entrance clear also prevents snow from piling up against the fence and blocking sight lines for drivers. The ban will apply to all streets within a two-block radius of the park, including Ambrel Lake Road and Ambrel Lake Drive.

“Getting the salt trucks in early keeps the path safe and the roads clear for everyone,” says Robert Eng, City Manager. “We want to make sure the park is ready for winter recreation as soon as the first snow falls.”

If you live on the affected streets, you must park off-street or on the opposite side of the road before 2:00 a.m. on November 23. You can move your car back after 6:00 a.m., but you must keep it off the street between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. each day until the ban ends on March 31. If you do not have off-street parking, you can apply for a snow route parking ban exemption online or in person at Wrenford City Hall.

The city-wide overnight parking ban runs from December 1 to March 31 from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. Main roads will be plowed after five centimetres of snow, and residential streets after eight centimetres.
