Starts today, September 1, the Parks & Trails team is shutting down the Wildrye Splash Pad for its annual winterization and maintenance work. The splash pad at Wildrye Park, located at 90 Wildrye Drive in the Wildrye neighbourhood, has been running daily from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. since late June, and today marks the end of its operating season for 2025.
Over the next few weeks, crews will drain the system, clean the spray deck, and check the plumbing and electrical connections to make sure everything is ready for next summer. Staff will also test the water quality and safety features before the system is fully shut down for the colder months.
If you have a family event or a community gathering planned for the splash pad area in the coming weeks, please note that the surrounding grass area is still open for casual play. The splash pad itself will be off-limits to the public until the work is finished and the area is re-opened for the next season.
"We want to make sure the splash pad is safe and running smoothly for everyone when it opens again," says Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. "A little bit of downtime now means a great summer for families next year."
Residents can still enjoy the playground and picnic shelters at Wildrye Park. If you notice any maintenance issues at the splash pad site or other parks before the work is done, you can use our online reporting form to let us know.
