Trail users should expect disruptions along the Tamsin River Trail System near Riverside Flats Park and the Centennial Bridge this week. Wrenford Water and Wastewater crews are replacing a section of the main water line that runs beneath the trail corridor. Work begins Monday, June 30, and is scheduled to finish on Thursday, July 3.
The trail will be closed to pedestrians and cyclists between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. while crews excavate the trench, install the new pipe, and backfill the area. To keep you moving safely, we have set up temporary detours using the adjacent paved paths on Ferris Street and the sidewalk along Water Street. Look for orange barricades and directional signs posted at the Riverside Flats Park trailhead and at the Centennial Bridge approach.
Residents living near the work zone may notice increased noise, heavy equipment traffic, and temporary dust. We will keep the area wet during excavation to limit airborne dust, and crews will work quickly to minimize the disruption. The city will restore the trail surface and replant any disturbed landscaping as soon as the utility work is complete.
"We know how much our residents rely on the river trail for their daily walks and bike rides," says Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. "We are working closely with the water team to finish the upgrade as quickly as possible, and we appreciate your patience while we get this important infrastructure in the ground."
