The Wrenford Public Library — Northgate Branch is proud to open its second annual community history exhibit, Wrenford Through the Decades, starting Friday, July 25, 2025. This free exhibition invites residents to explore the neighbourhood's past through rare photographs, original maps, and personal stories collected from local families.
Visitors will find a rotating collection of items from the Old Mill Museum & Archives alongside donations from the community. The exhibit highlights everyday life in Wrenford from the 1950s to the present day, including images of the original Centennial Bridge, early market days, and the growth of the Northgate area. Audio stations let you listen to recorded interviews with long-time residents who share their memories of building the neighbourhood.
"Local history is not just about dates and buildings; it is about the people who made this city home," said Gwen Lachance, Heritage & Archives Coordinator. "We want every visitor to walk away feeling connected to Wrenford's story and inspired to pass it on to the next generation."
Residents are encouraged to bring in their own family photographs, letters, or small keepsakes for the exhibit. Library staff will help digitize and label donated items so they can be preserved in the Library archives. If you do not have physical items to share, you can still participate by visiting the branch and recording a short video of your own memories at the exhibit's interview corner.
The exhibit runs through Sunday, September 28, 2025, during regular library hours. Admission is free, and the space is fully accessible.
