New affordable seniors housing opens at Ambrel Lake

Today, the City of Wrenford is opening a new phase of affordable housing for older adults at Ambrel Lake. The newest units at the Ambrel Lake Senior Residences, located at 1320 Ambrel Lake Road, are now ready for residents.

This phase adds 38 new homes to the site. The building was designed with aging in place in mind. Features include step-free entrances, wider doorways for walkers and wheelchairs, and secure outdoor courtyards. The project is managed by Seniors Housing Wrenford, a long-time community partner.

"This new phase is a direct result of the work we started with the Seniors Housing Strategy," said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "We know that as we grow, more of our neighbours will want to stay in their community as they get older. These homes give them a safe, affordable place to live close to the recreation centre and the transit terminal."

The development supports the goals of the Wrenford Housing Strategy 2025–2030, which focuses on keeping housing affordable and close to services. The City worked with developers and the Tamsin Valley Conservation Authority to ensure the site meets floodplain guidelines and uses sustainable building materials.
