Construction breaks ground on June 2 at the Hollis Park off-leash area to expand the space for dogs and their owners. The project adds a dedicated small-dog enclosure, a gravel perimeter path, and upgraded waste stations.
The expansion covers the eastern half of the existing off-leash zone at 70 Hollis Park Drive. Work runs from June 2 to August 15, 2025. The park stays open during construction, but expect some noise and dust. Crews will keep the western half fully accessible through the main gate off Hollis Park Drive. Follow all posted signs and temporary fencing.
The $285,000 upgrade improves drainage and adds a double-gated entry to keep dogs safe when people come and go. New waste bins and a water bowl will sit near the parking lot. The gravel path gives walkers a firmer surface to clean up after their pets.
"We know this park is a daily destination for many residents in Ward 2," says Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. "The new small-dog area means owners can choose a space that fits their dog's size and energy level, while the wider path makes cleanup easier for everyone."
Keep your dog on a six-metre leash on the shared trails that border the park. The off-leash zone is open from dawn to dusk, seven days a week. If you see a damaged fence or a broken water station, let us know right away.
