Council approves new parking rates effective November 1, 2025

City Council approved updated parking rates for the downtown core and the Market Square Parking Garage on Monday. The new rates take effect November 1, 2025, and will apply to all on-street stalls and city-owned lots in the affected zones.

For Zone A on-street parking, the city will use a flat rate of $2.00 per hour from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. This replaces the previous block-by-block pricing that varied across the downtown grid. Free parking will continue to be available after 4:30 p.m., on weekends, and on statutory holidays.

The monthly permit rate for the Market Square Parking Garage is set at $95.00. The garage operates twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and uses swipe card access for a secure, well-lit space. Current monthly permit holders will see the adjusted rate on their accounts automatically when the new billing cycle starts.

"We know parking in the downtown core is a top priority for residents and visitors alike," said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "These adjustments are designed to keep rates fair, ensure steady turnover for local businesses, and support the long-term revitalization of our city centre."

No action is required on your part. The updated rates will be reflected on the Pay & Go kiosks and the Wrenford Park mobile app starting November 1. If you have questions about zone boundaries or payment options, staff at the Service Wrenford counter at City Hall can help you get set up.
