City tests emergency notification system ahead of holiday season

Tomorrow, December 4, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., the City of Wrenford will test its emergency alert and notification system. Residents who have signed up to receive alerts will get an email, voice call, or text message. The message will say: “EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE. This is a test of the City of Wrenford emergency notification system. No action is required. THIS IS ONLY A TEST.”

If you get this message, please do not call 9-1-1 or the City. You can simply ignore it. This test helps us make sure the system works correctly and that your contact information is up to date.

“We want to make sure every resident in Wrenford can get important information quickly, especially during the busy holiday season when severe weather can happen,” says Liam O’Rourke, Community Emergency Management Coordinator. “It only takes a few minutes to check your profile in our alert system.”

The Wrenford Emergency Alert Network is how the City shares urgent public notices and safety updates during emergencies. If you have not signed up yet, or if your phone number or email address has changed, now is a good time to update it. You can sign up or change your preferences at any time by visiting the emergency alerts page.

The test will only take a few seconds. If you do not receive a test message, check your spam or junk folder. You may also want to review the the emergency preparedness guide to see how you can build a plan for your home.
