We are asking you, residents aged 55 and older, and your families and community partners to share feedback on the next steps for supporting older adults in Wrenford. Starting today, we are gathering input on our Seniors Housing Strategy implementation plan to ensure our housing options meet the needs of an aging population.
Wrenford's population is growing, and more residents are staying in the city as they age. The implementation plan will build on the draft strategy released earlier this year. It focuses on practical actions you can help shape. These include exploring innovative housing solutions for older adults, updating design guidelines for senior-focused buildings, and creating a rezoning policy that supports downsizing and aging in place. You will also see strengthened partnerships with senior-serving organizations and new funding applications to provincial and federal partners.
"We want to make sure your housing options work as you age," says Isabel Moreno, Housing Programs Coordinator. "Your feedback will help us shape the policies and programs that keep older adults safe, connected, and able to stay in the neighbourhoods they love."
We are asking you to take a short online survey, attend one of our pop-up events, or download a Conversation Kit to lead a discussion with a group of friends or neighbours. Your input will directly guide the actions we take this year.
How to get involved:
- Take the online survey: Available from September 15 to October 10, 2025. Visit the Seniors page for the link.
- Attend a pop-up event:
- Monday, September 22, Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, September 24, Ambrel Lake Recreation Centre, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Friday, September 26, Westbrook Community Arena, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Lead a Conversation Kit session: Download the guide to host a discussion with a community group, long-term care residents, or family members.
Your feedback will also look at ways to improve access to existing services like seniors support and outreach, home repair grants, and winter warmth checks. We are committed to making sure every older adult in Wrenford has a safe and affordable place to call home.
Visit the Seniors housing strategy page for more information about the strategy and to view the full draft document.
