City announces 2026 accessible playground grant program

The City of Wrenford is now accepting applications for the 2026 Accessible Playground Grant Program. You can use this funding to build or upgrade playgrounds so they are fully accessible and welcoming for children and families of all abilities.

“Playgrounds are vital for community health and connection,” said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. “This grant program shows our commitment to making sure every child in Wrenford has a safe, barrier-free place to play and learn.”

The program provides funding to replace aging equipment or install new features that meet the Inclusive playgrounds. You can apply for up to 30 per cent of your project’s total budget, with a maximum award of $75,000. The City has set aside $150,000 in total for 2026 projects.

To be eligible, you must represent a registered non-profit organization that has been incorporated for at least one year and is in good standing with the City. You must also show strong financial management and confirm that at least 40 per cent of the total project cost is already secured when you apply. All projects must be located in Wrenford and open to the public.

Successful applicants will have until June 1, 2028, to finish construction and open the playground. You must submit your completed application electronically by 4:30 p.m. on March 15, 2026.

The City will host a virtual information session on January 28, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. for non-profit groups. City staff will walk through the eligibility rules, funding limits, design standards, and the application steps, and answer your questions.
