The Benchlands Curling Club is opening its bonspiel season this Saturday with a community draw that welcomes players of all ages and skill levels. The event takes place at 430 Benchlands Drive, Wrenford, ON N4Q 2A6, starting at 9:00 a.m. and running until 4:00 p.m. Admission is free, and the club will provide all equipment so you can try your hand at the game.
Curling has been a steady part of Wrenford’s winter calendar for decades. The club operates out of the city-owned facility and runs a full season of leagues, open skips, and special events. This year’s opening draw will feature demonstrations from the Wrenford Masters team, a youth coaching clinic for players under 18, and a raffle with prizes from local sponsors. Hot chocolate and coffee will be served in the lounge throughout the day.
“Supporting community sports and recreational groups like the Benchlands Curling Club is a priority for our city,” said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. “These programmes bring neighbours together, keep people active through the winter months, and strengthen the social fabric of Wrenford. We are proud to provide the facility and look forward to seeing the community come out in force.”
If you want to join a league or book ice time for a bonspiel, registration for the 2025–2026 season opens on December 1 at the front desk. You can visit the club’s desk in person or call the City of Wrenford main line at 519-555-0100 to be connected. The club is always looking for scorekeepers, volunteers for the banquet committee, and people to help run the annual winter festival.

Whether you are a seasoned skip or just curious about the sport, the Benchlands Curling Club is ready to welcome you. Bring a friend, grab a seat in the stands, and enjoy a day of winter fun on the ice.
