The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce the completion of the Ambrel Lake Pathway Extension, which officially opened to the public today, May 15, 2025, at Ambrel Lake Park.
The extension adds 1.2 kilometres of paved, accessible trail connecting the existing north shore boardwalk to the south shore playground and picnic shelters. The project was funded through the City's Active Transportation Network Strategy, which works to connect neighbourhoods, parks, and transit stops with safer walking and cycling routes.
"We want all residents to feel safe and comfortable when they're travelling across Wrenford," said City Manager Robert Eng. "This pathway extension supports active transportation and makes the park more accessible for everyone, no matter how they choose to get around."
The new section links directly to the main Tamsin River Trail System, creating a continuous loop around the lake. It features a smooth, all-weather surface designed for strollers, wheelchairs, and bicycles. The City has also installed new lighting along the path to improve visibility during the early morning and evening hours.
Residents are encouraged to follow trail etiquette and keep dogs on a six-metre leash when not in designated off-leash zones. Please remember to pick up after your pets and stay on the paved surface to protect the surrounding natural areas. If you notice any maintenance issues, such as litter or damage, you can report them through the city's online portal.
