Youth council welcomes five new members for 2024 term

The City of Wrenford is pleased to welcome five new members to the Wrenford Youth Council for the 2024 term. Starting this June at City Hall, these young leaders will serve a one-year term to help shape community programmes and advise City Council.

The newly appointed members bring a mix of interests and ideas from across the city. They are Zoe Grant, a resident of Larch Heights; Aaron Bellamy from Northgate; Beatriz Lopes from Benchlands; Colin Ashby from Ambrel Lake; and Deepa Iyer from Wildrye.

Youth Council gives young people ages 16 to 22 a direct voice in local government. Members research community issues, advise City Council, and help plan events and programmes that affect young residents. The council also works on projects that connect youth with other groups. If you are an older resident looking for ways to connect with youth in the community, you can explore Seniors recreation opportunities for more information on intergenerational events.

"We are excited to see such strong interest from young people who want to make a real difference in Wrenford," says Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "These new members will bring fresh ideas and thoughtful advice to Council, and we look forward to working with them all year."

The Youth Council meets monthly at Wrenford City Hall. Meetings are open to the public, and residents are welcome to attend. If you are a young person in Wrenford and want to get involved in local decision-making, you can find out how to join the council or suggest a community project by visiting Youth engagement and feedback channels.
