Wrenford launches free youth recreation pass for summer 2024

The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce the launch of the Free Youth Recreation Pass for summer 2024. Available to all residents aged 18 and under, the pass removes cost barriers and gives young people free access to drop-in activities, fitness classes, and all City-run recreation facilities.

The pass works at every recreation centre in the city. You can use it at the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre for swimming and fieldhouse programs, at the Northgate Aquatic Centre for lap swimming and the waterslide, or at the Westbrook Community Arena and Eastfield Twin Arenas for drop-in hockey and basketball. It also covers the Ambrel Lake Recreation Centre, Kingfisher Outdoor Pool, and the Wildrye Splash Pad. No registration is needed for open gym or casual play sessions.

“We are thrilled to offer the Free Youth Recreation Pass this summer,” said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. “Every young person in Wrenford deserves a chance to stay active, make friends, and enjoy their summer break without worrying about program fees. We want these spaces to be welcoming and accessible to all.”

Getting your pass is simple. Visit the service counter at Wrenford City Hall, the Downtown Transit Terminal, or any of the recreation centres listed above. Bring a photo ID and a piece of mail or a utility bill showing your Wrenford address. Staff will issue your pass on the spot. The pass is valid from June 1 through Labour Day and can be renewed each summer.

The City is also investing in wellness programs for older residents. Just as we are removing financial barriers for youth, we continue to support active aging through initiatives like Seniors programming and Seniors recreation opportunities. Whether you are 16 or 65, Wrenford is building a healthier community for everyone.
