The Wrenford Fire Service is proud to announce the graduation of five new recruit firefighters. Starting today, October 21, 2024, the new team members are assigned to fire stations across the city to begin their service.
The recruits have completed an intensive training programme over the past five months. They combined classroom learning with hands-on live fire drills, technical rescue exercises, and medical first response training. Two of the new graduates are also qualified paramedics, which strengthens the City’s combined emergency response capabilities.
"We are thrilled to welcome these dedicated individuals to the Wrenford Fire Service," says Deputy Fire Chief Simon Hartley. "They bring a strong commitment to public safety and a diverse set of skills that will benefit our residents and neighbourhoods."
You will see the new firefighters on patrol in your neighbourhood as they learn the local streets, hydrant locations, and high-risk buildings. The Fire Service reminds you to keep your driveways and fire lanes clear, ensure your address is clearly visible, and visit the Fire Rescue page for tips on home fire safety.
Residents can apply for seasonal open-air burning permits and book free smoke and carbon monoxide alarm checks through the Fire Service. The new graduates will help staff the open-air burning and fire permits counter at Fire Station 1 during the April to October season.
Congratulations to the new recruits on their successful completion of training. They are eager to serve the community and look forward to meeting residents across Wrenford.
