Winter parking ban lifts Monday at Ambrel Lake Park

The overnight on-street parking ban around Ambrel Lake Park will be lifted at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024. This allows City crews to safely clear snow and ice from the streets leading to the park entrance at 1350 Ambrel Lake Road and the trailhead.

If you park on the streets nearby, please move your vehicle before 2:00 a.m. on Monday. The ban covers all on-street parking on Ambrel Lake Road, Ambrel Lake Park Road, and the adjacent residential streets.

Roads & Winter Maintenance crews will arrive shortly after the ban lifts to salt, sand, and plow the area. We use a salt and sand mix when temperatures drop below -10°C to keep roads safe and improve traction.

"We know that clearing these routes quickly makes a big difference for your morning commute and for residents heading to the park," says James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. "Our crews are working through the night to get these streets ready for you."

If you need to keep your vehicle in the area during the ban, you can apply for an exemption online. Please note that exemptions are only granted for specific circumstances and do not guarantee a parking spot once crews are in the area.

After the ban is lifted, crews will continue to clear snow from sidewalks and park pathways. Please allow extra time for travel, wear boots with grippers, and drive carefully on icy roads.
