Waste collection resumes normal schedule after winter storm

Garbage and green bin collection is back on track across Wrenford as City crews have caught up following the heavy snowfall in late December 2023.

What happened

Crews worked extended hours, seven days a week, to clear the backlog for thousands of addresses. During the peak of the storm, green bin service was temporarily paused so all available staff and vehicles could focus on clearing the black carts and garbage bags. Recycling collection also faced delays due to icy streets and tight laneways, but those crews are now back to their regular weekly routes.

What residents need to know

  • Garbage and green bin collection have resumed their normal biweekly and weekly schedules.
  • Blue Box recycling is also back on its regular weekly schedule.
  • If you missed a pickup during the storm, you can report it online or call Wrenford 311 at 3-1-1.
  • Keep your waste carts and bags at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day.

Looking ahead

Future interruptions due to extreme winter weather remain a possibility. To keep the service reliable, the City will continue to monitor road conditions and adjust routes as needed. We also encourage residents to check the collection schedule regularly and sign up for service alerts so you know exactly when your route is coming.
