Transit network improvements project breaks ground on route 9

Today, the City of Wrenford breaks ground on the Route 9 stop upgrade project. This work will improve service along Mill Street, connecting the Copper Ridge neighbourhood to the historic downtown grid. You will see the changes on your next trip between the northern ridge and the Centennial Gardens area.

Crews will upgrade eight stops along the route starting next Monday. The project includes wider platforms, new weather shelters, and better lighting. You can expect the work to run through May 2025. Buses will keep running on Route 9 the whole time, but you may see short delays while crews work near the curb. Temporary signs will guide you to the new stop locations as the old ones come down.

"We are making sure every rider has a safe, comfortable place to wait while buses run more frequently through the downtown grid," says Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "These upgrades are a big step toward a transit system that works for everyone."

This project is the third leg of the Transit network improvements project. It follows the Route 5 stop upgrades on Corvid Way and the Route 12 work on Ambrel Lake Road. The City is also planning bus-only lanes on Tamsin Street, Benchlands Drive, and Northgate Boulevard to keep traffic moving during peak hours.

You can check the latest Route 9 schedule on the Bus schedules and timetables page. If you have questions about the construction or need to report a problem, call 311 or email [email protected].
