Improving bus stops

Wrenford Transit serves more than 90,000 residents with 14 fixed routes and dozens of bus stops across the city. Every day, thousands of people rely on these stops to get to work, school and community events. We work with Wrenford Transit and the City of Wrenford to make sure every stop is safe, convenient, accessible and comfortable.

How we improve bus stops

We regularly review bus stops to see what changes are needed. Our upgrades focus on:

  • Adding clear signs to show the stop location and where the bus pulls in and out.
  • Fixing sidewalks and pathways so they are level and easy to navigate for wheelchairs and strollers.
  • Trimming trees, bushes or moving utility poles that block bus doors or sightlines.
  • Installing seating, litter bins or shelters where space allows.
  • Reinforcing the road surface so it can handle the weight of the buses.
  • Moving the stop location to improve traffic flow and safety.
  • Connecting the stop smoothly with nearby crosswalks, sidewalks and bike lanes.

Current bus stop improvement projects

We are currently upgrading stops along Route 5 - Corvid Way and Route 12 - Ambrel Lake Road. These routes see high ridership, and we are widening the bus bays and lengthening the stops to accommodate larger buses. This will reduce travel times and make boarding faster for everyone.

Expected timeline and impacts

Construction runs from April to September 2026. During this period, some stops may be temporarily moved or closed for up to two weeks. You will see temporary signs at the affected locations with details on the new stop placement. We aim to keep as much street parking as possible, but some spaces may be reduced temporarily to build longer bus bays.

Cycling and walking changes

To keep everyone safe, we are adding protected bike lanes near several busy stops and installing better crosswalk signals. We are also relocating a few public bicycle parking racks to keep pathways clear for passengers boarding and exiting the bus.

Does a bus stop need attention?

If a sign is bent, the shelter is damaged, the sidewalk is cracked, or a tree is blocking the view, please report it. You can use Service Wrenford online or call 311 inside the city limits. Our maintenance crews check reports daily and schedule repairs based on priority and weather.
