Wrenford families have more ways to stay active and have fun this summer. The Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre at 400 Benchlands Drive is rolling out a fresh schedule of aquatics, fitness, and youth camps for July and August.
The centre will host a new River Quest Outdoor Adventure Camp for children aged seven to twelve. The week-long programme runs every Tuesday and Thursday from July 9 to August 29. Participants will explore the Tamsin River Trail System with guided nature walks, learn basic canoe skills on Ambrel Lake, and build teamwork through group challenges. Space is limited to thirty spots per week.
Alongside the camp, the leisure centre is expanding its public swim and fitness hours. The 25-metre lap pool will now offer evening swim sessions until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays. Adults and teens can join the new Summer Aqua Fitness Circuit, a low-impact class led by certified instructors in the leisure pool. Drop-in fitness will also run in the fieldhouse every Saturday morning for all ages.
"We want to make sure every resident can find something that fits their schedule and interests this summer," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "Adding evening swim times and a hands-on outdoor camp gives families more flexibility and keeps the community centre buzzing all season long."
You can register online on Monday, June 3, at 8:00 a.m. Residents can sign up through the Wrenford Recreation portal or visit the Service Wrenford counter at City Hall, 100 Mercer Street. Families using a Leisure Access Card can apply for a fee reduction at the same location. For full class descriptions, age requirements, and pricing, visit the Swimming lessons and Summer day camps pages.
The leisure centre remains open Monday to Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and on weekends from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. For a full list of amenities, including the walking track and child minding services, see the Parks & Trails facility page.
