Summer day camps for Wrenford kids

Summer day camps give your child a chance to stay active, make friends, and try new things all summer long. Our camps run from late June to early September at recreation centres and community facilities across the city. Programs are designed for school-aged children, typically from kindergarten through grade 8, with age-appropriate activities at every location.

Campers enjoy a mix of sports, games, arts and crafts, and outdoor play. Depending on the site, camps may include visits to local parks like Ambrel Lake Park or Riverside Flats Park, and access to pools and fieldhouses.

Registration dates and how to register

Registration for spring/summer and camp programs opens on the first Monday of March at 6:00 a.m. You can register in three ways:

  • Online: Log in to your Service Wrenford recreation account.
  • By phone: Call the Customer Service Centre at 519-555-0100 (option 2) during business hours.
  • In person: Visit the service counter at any recreation facility during operating hours.

Virtual waiting rooms open 30 minutes before registration. Make sure your account information and emergency contacts are up to date before you sign up.

Camp locations and hours

Day camps are held at our recreation centres and community facilities. Common drop-off and pick-up times are 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Some locations, like the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre and Northgate Aquatic Centre, offer extended hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for a separate course code. Extended hours are a great option for working parents.

Check the individual program descriptions for specific age ranges and daily schedules.

Before camp begins

Once registered, you will receive an email with the parent communication and policy manual, along with required forms. Please complete and bring these forms on the first day. You must also provide:

  • A healthy lunch and snacks that do not require heating.
  • A refillable water bottle.
  • Any necessary medication or medical equipment, properly labelled.
  • Weather-appropriate clothing, including a hat, sunglasses, and closed-toe shoes.

Please apply sunscreen and insect repellent before drop-off. We cannot be responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen personal items or electronics, so leave valuables at home.

Inclusion and support

Wrenford recreation day camps aim to be welcoming and inclusive for all children. Camps are group-based programs where children participate together in games and activities. We encourage children to build friendships, follow routines, and try new things in a supportive environment.

When you register, please tell us about your child's support needs, communication preferences, and medical information. Our staff can adapt activities to support different abilities. If your child requires more support than our program can provide, a camp supervisor may ask you to arrange a support worker or aide to attend camp with your child.

Staff cannot provide personal care, physical lifts, or one-on-one medical procedures. If you need help arranging support, contact the Recreation Programs Coordinator, Caroline Dubé, at [email protected].

Recreation fee assistance

If cost is a barrier, Wrenford offers a Recreation Fee Assistance program. Eligible residents can apply for a discount on camp registration. Visit the Recreation fee assistance page to check eligibility and apply.
