Tamsin River Run returns July 14 with family activities

The City of Wrenford is bringing back the Tamsin River Run on Sunday, July 14, 2024. The event will start and finish at Riverside Flats Park, located at 25 Water Street. Participants can choose from a 5 km run, a 2 km walk, or a family fun run. We are teaming up with local volunteers and Tamsin Valley Public Health to ensure a safe and fun day for everyone.

The race will follow the shaded sections of the Tamsin River Trail System, one of the city's favourite 64 km network of paved and gravel paths. Whether you are training for a race or just want to enjoy a morning walk with your neighbours, the course is designed for all fitness levels. Stopping at water stations along the route is encouraged, and you can bring your own reusable bottles.

"We are thrilled to bring back the Tamsin River Run for our community," says Fiona Gallagher, GM Community Services. "It is a fantastic way for residents of all ages to enjoy our river trails and celebrate the outdoors together."

Registration is open now and will close on July 10 at 5:00 p.m. You can sign up online through Wrenford Recreation Online. The standard fee is $25.00 for the 5 km run and $10.00 for the 2 km walk. Youth aged 12 and under run free with an adult. If you need help with registration or want to apply for a fee waiver, visit Registration dates and tips for step-by-step instructions.

On race day, please arrive 30 minutes early to pick up your bib and timing chip. We ask that you follow all trail etiquette and respect the natural areas along the route. Tamsin Valley Public Health will have first aid tents set up at the start/finish area, and the Wrenford Police Service will be nearby to manage traffic on Mercer Street.

After the race, stay for the family activities zone at Riverside Flats Park. There will be face painting, local food trucks, and a children's obstacle course.
